World’s Largest Advent Calendar

Date Added: Mon 14 December 2009

Service Graphics, the large format arm of St Ives PLC, has printed and installed the world’s largest advent calendar at London’s new ‘International’ train station, St Pancras. Produced as part of its ‘Meet me at St Pancras’ campaign, supporting the station’s positioning as a meeting place or ‘destination station’, the 2,685sqm of graphics have formed a key part of the station’s Christmas celebrations.

The client brief was to create an authentic 19th Century Christmas experience, incorporating the spirit of a Victorian Christmas into the newly refurbished station.

Working with its clients, the experiential branding agency, Greenspace and international exhibition specialist, Clements & Street Limited, Service Graphics printed the world’s largest advent calendar, a theatrical Santa’s grotto and festive backdrops for carol singers, mulled wine and roast chestnut sellers.

Seasonal images behind the advent calendar doors – which are also used to promote retailers within the station – are revealed each day by a different celebrity. Throughout the station, Service Graphics has printed and installed graphics on windows, doors, glass balustrades and in the champagne bar, continuing the festive theme. A children’s area has also been created to provide the younger visitors to the station with the opportunity to write letters to Santa and post them in a 1.5m post box. The floor graphics in this area have also been produced by Service Graphics.

Service Graphics used its state of the art NUR Expedia digital inkjet system and the Vutek QS to print the project. In total, the job took three weeks to produce.
